Behind The Brand

GalaQueens is a slow fashion, sustainably made, and woman run Boutique which I run out of my home in Connecticut. When you order a Piece from GalaQueens, your item is not coming from a fast fashion and trend-based brand. Every Piece Is Hand Crafted and Handmade just for you with love. Why is my brand called GalaQueens? It represents women uniting and coming together to express themselves through Art/Fashion. I Refer to women as Queens, because we are powerful! I want every Queen to feel beautiful and powerful in each piece that I make/create.

Hi, My Name Is Melanie Nuñez!

I’m the owner of GalaQueens by Mel, and I also handle everything including designing, sewing, customer service, shipping, ordering, marketing, research and development, styling, photography, editing and modeling.

I started my business a year after Covid happened. I’ve always been fashionable since I was a kid and people would always tell me that I am the most artistic person in my family. The most influential moment in my life would be when I was in high school and I purchased my first corset and wore it for a costume. I remember feeling so powerful and beautiful. I now Focus on that energy when creating pieces for my brand.
I didn’t go to college for GalaQueens. I learned everything online and on YouTube by doing my research. I started GalaQueens after I graduated high school. I am always sewing and creating, but when I am not sewing and creating I am working at my part time job. I've always been hand sewing and tailoring my clothes since a little girl. When I purchased my first sewing machine after graduation I made my first corset! Can you guess what color it was? My favorite color Baby Pink!
Taking Your Measurements

Bust

Wrap the measuring tape loosely around the fullest part of your chest, at nipple level. Round to the nearest whole number. This will become your bust measurement.

Waist

Level the measuring tape around your belly button. Make sure it's not too tight and that it's straight, even at the back. Don't hold your breath while measuring. Check the number on the tape measure right after you exhale.

Hip

Hold the measuring tape parallel to the floor, Circle it around the widest part of the hips, crossing behind the back. Meet the measuring tape with your other finger to find your hip size. Hold the tape still so that it doesn't sag or twist around the hip area.
